After stints with several Deep Ellum acts he hitched up with vocalist/writing partner Steve Ryburn to form the basis for Psycho Betty. In response to the "college" bands like Tripping Daisies, etc. Psycho Betty pushed a harder/edgier approach to their music. This "balls out" style attained the interest of Reality Records who produced the bands debut "Brunch with Psycho Betty" in late '94. Although sales didn't go through the roof this debut had blown away all who have had the privilege of owning it. Shad moved on from the Dallas scene in '98 to L.A to continue pursuing his career in what he felt would be a more lucrative market. In December 2001 Shad contacted Psycho Betty producer Peter Blackwell and his partner Patrick McNulty to produce his solo record. In January and February of 2002 the partnership recorded a strong acoustic/electric set featuring excellent song writing and performances marking Shad's first solo release: "Too pretty for People" |
